ELS Mechanical Case Studies
Westgold
Supporting the growth of the business
Westgold is a top-10 Australian gold producer, with an annual production of 250,000 to 300,000oz per annum in the Central Murchison region. Operating both open pit and underground they rely heavily on a large fleet of mobile plant, road transport and light vehicles. They chose ELS Mechanical to provide a maintenance team clock.
Problem
As a top-10 Australian gold producer, and operating in the Central Murchison region of Western Australia – Westgold maintains ownership of three prominent satellite-pit gold mines, in a 20 million oz gold province.
The Westgold operations are split into three operational centres which operate mine and cart operations to centralised processing hubs. The safety and reliability of their fleet and mobile plant is critical.
An industry-wide skills shortage had placed significant pressure on both maintenance and operational outputs. Attracting, recruiting and retaining an experienced team with the ownership and drive required to match their maintenance outputs with operational teams was proving challenging.
In 2019 the management team at Westgold to sought out a partner who could deliver a reliable maintenance service across their operations.
Westgold chose ELS Mechanical due to their previous track record good of good performance and a no-fuss can-do attitude.
